PSI announces successful preliminary field trials of the SecureMat

Monday 8th February 2010, 11.00am.

Perimeter Security Industries Pty Ltd today announced successful completion of preliminary field trials of its new product, the 'SecureMat', the first of a new range of perimeter security technologies currently under development by PSI.

PSI CEO Ian Bergman said 'Field trials carried out over several weeks in various locations in the Australian Capital Territory have been highly successful. Three Securemat systems operating in various outdoor locations during January/February 2010 have produced zero false alarms even in rain and windy conditions, and a 1005 level of detection'. 'So far all attempts by a person walking across the SecureMat have been detected, including walking at different paces, hopping, skipping, jumping, crawling, and walking quickly and slowly', he said. 'Persons of different weights have been detected as the system is designed to alarm for any persons over 20 kilograms in weight'.

PSI technicians have implemented a number of signal analysis techniques into the SecureMat operating system to ensure the most reliable and robust method for footstep detection. The signal analysis techniques used maximise detection probability and minimise susceptibility to false alarms while at the same time incorporating a mechanism to adapt to varying operational conditions. Statistical methods have been incorporated to enable the SecureMat to develop immunity to dynamic conditions including rain and wind. These methods incorporate newly developed signature analysis specifically designed to identify footstep signatures in the LDR output signal. The statistical methods have been designed to provide optimum detection for footsteps with an experimentally determined average duration. A high level of flexibility has been built into the system so as to increase the probability of footstep detection.

Mr Bergman said 'We are now seeking companies and partners to work with us on beta-testing of our technology to help us fast-track the SecureMat product into the Australian marketplace'.

The Company - Perimeter Security Industries Pty Ltd

Perimeter Security Industries Pty Ltd has developed a breakthrough technology with important implications for the security industry in Australia. The technology supports a new range of products for both outdoor and indoor applications which provide for the deterrent and detection of intruders in a range of situations. The initial product - the SecureMat - is a versatile on-ground mat which detects any intruders walking across a protected area. When an intruder is detected sensor boxes emit a deterrent alarm and simultaneously send an SMS to a home base. PSI has developed a suite of proprietary algorithms which ensure negligible false alarms and a very high probability of detection.
